Personal profile

Research profile

The research is within microsociological and social psychological themes. The overall research interest focuses on identity creation and emotion sociology issues. Theoretical research is conducted in symbolic interactionist approaches based on, among others, G. H. Mead as well as emotion sociology perspectives including Eva Illouz and Thomas Scheff. The research is directed towards emotion sociology themes such as shame, romantic love in late modern society and understandings of happiness and well-being. The research is also directed towards narrative approaches and understandings both theoretically as a meta-perspective and with relevance for the understanding of identity creation, resilience and well-being as well as in relation to a qualification of qualitative research approaches.

Specifically, teaching includes an elective course in basic social psychology in the sociology program, in scientific theory in the 6th semester of the sociology program, in emotional sociology themes in another elective course (previously a theoretical track in the master's program) and in a methods course regarding narrative approaches.
