Research profile

Iva Ridjan Skov is an Associate Professor in Energy Planning and Renewable Energy Systems at Aalborg University, Denmark. She holds a PhD in electrofuels and renewable energy systems.

Her research focuses on electrofuel (PtX) pathways for liquid and gaseous fuels in fully renewable energy systems, with particular emphasis on technical, socio‑economic, and policy dimensions. Her work includes energy system analyses of PtX value chains, demand-side impacts, cross‑sectoral integration, and the utilisation of by-products such as waste heat from electrolysis. She also works on coupling life‑cycle assessment (LCA) with energy system modelling and investigates how climate events affect the design and resilience of future energy systems.

Iva is a member of several reference and advisory groups in the Danish Energy Agency and DBI, and she serves as an international academic member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering. She has received two notable distinctions: the EliteForsk travel grant (2014) and the Best Research Project Award for the Solid Oxide Electrolysis for Grid Balancing project.

She is a Subject Editor for the Energy journal.

At Aalborg University, she serves as Head of Studies for the Bachelor’s programme Urban, Energy and Environmental Planning and the Master’s programme Sustainable Cities. She is also a member of the Academic Council.
