Jesper's research profile lies at the intersection of management accounting, business models, and entrepreneurship.

Theoretically Jesper is primarily emerged into business models, performance management and in-depth understanding of the research areas enabled by his qualitative approach. This has led to concrete initiatives in the Danish investment community and upgrading the local government knowledge regarding the investment process between business angels and entrepreneurs.

Specifically Lean start-up and investment processes between entrepreneurs and investors. This intersection of research includes how to understand and improve the management accounting of SMEs from a performance management perspective. Understand and improve the entrepreneurial process of start-up to achieve success including investment process between investors and entrepreneurs/companies, where the approaches are often inspired by business models.

Furthermore, several papers on teaching and using business models has been published. The future vision is to use the work done to help improve companies in performing better using business models and performance management including entrepreneurs in developing themselves and their company in order become future growth companies. The work enables both contributions to academia as well as practice. 

Teaching profile

Jesper's teaching mainly focuses on Business Models, Entrepreneurship, and Management Accounting. His experience includes coordinating courses on different levels, including bachelor's, master's, and executive programmes. This also includes teaching in different programmes ranging from business school to engineering to social sciences and humanities. 

Jesper has also taught courses on the executive programme related to Business Models and Entrepreneurship. He has been a guest lecturer in China on the Sino-Danish Centers Innovation Management programme. 

The teaching has also led to Jesper receiving distinctions on an individual level and for courses.
