Personal profile

Research profile

My research focuses on the encounters between vulnerable people and different types of Danish welfare actors. My main expertise lies at the intersection of frontline research and refugee/forced migration studies, but I have also worked in the area of disabilities, substance abuse, and vulnerable children and youth. Methodologically, my profile is qualitative, and theoretically I combine elements from classical social theory (e.g. Goffman, Foucault, Lipsky) with concepts drawn from migration research. My latest articles deal with themes such as temporal management, co-creation, and shifts in the relationship between case workers, volunteers and refugees after the paradigm shift in Denmark's immigration and integration policy.

Teaching profile

My teaching focuses on the encounters between frontline employees in and beyond the welfare state and marginalized groups such as asylum seekers or citizens with refugee backgrounds, disabilities or substance abuse problems.
