Personal profile

Administrative profile

As the lead for Aalborg University's Diamond Open Access publishing platform and competence unit, AAU OPEN, I am dedicated to promoting sustainable, open, and researcher-centered publishing models.

My work lies at the intersection of research communication, strategic analysis, research support, and research infrastructure, with a particular focus on Open Science and Open Access publishing.

In addition, I specialize in research analytics and management information, delivering data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making—especially in relation to research evaluation and merit assessment. I am responsible for quality assurance and validation of research registrations in Pure and work systematically to ensure that the university’s research output is accurately and meaningfully documented and made visible.

I have a strong interest in communicating complex data and analyses in an accessible way and actively contribute to competence development and knowledge sharing within Open Science and research infrastructure.

Research profile

With a PhD in social sciences, I am particularly interested in the intersections where international policies, trends, norms, and values meet local initiatives. I view these meeting points as key to understanding how global ideas are adapted and translated into concrete, local actions. In my current position, I focus on Open Science, Open Access, and research merit structures, with a particular interest in how university libraries can help ensure open access to research results and research data.

In my PhD dissertation from Aalborg University, I explored gender and military identities in relation to soldiers deployed on international missions. My research was grounded in feminist international relations and critical military studies, examining how gender and power structures shape military institutions and practices.

My research interests also include how gendered and intersectional dynamics influence both individual experiences and institutional structures within the military, and how these dynamics relate to broader questions of security, peace, and international politics.

Teaching profile

I teach topics related to research infrastructure and scholarly communication, including Open Science, Open Access publishing, research assessment, and bibliometrics. My teaching approach emphasizes the integration of theoretical insight with practical application, aiming to foster critical reflection and methodological awareness.

I teach the VBN-teams PhD course in Scholarly Communications in an Open Science Perspective.

In addition, I have extensive teaching and supervision experience within my research areas, including global gender studies, feminist theory, international relations, military studies, and qualitative methods. Most of my teaching has taken place at Aalborg University, and I have also served as a guest lecturer at Boston University, where I taught courses in international relations, feminism, and military studies.
