Research profile

Louise is an associate professor specializing in strategic leadership, with a particular focus on the interplay between strategy, organizational development and business models. In addition, she specializes in the application of critical realism as a philosophy of science for studying strategic management.

As a founding member of Strategic Management Lab, Louise is dedicated to advancing both the theory and practice of strategic management. She recently contributed to a comprehensive survey on strategy work within Danish organizations, known as The Strategy Barometer. Through the Strategic Management Lab, Louise is involved in externally funded European projects that address strategic change and sustainability. These projects include initiatives for collaborative sustainability in tourism (3ST), the transition of municipal vehicle fleets (GreenFleets), and the development of inter-organizational business models aimed at reducing CO2 emissions (CO2 Vision). In the CO2 Vision project, Louise serves as the project manager representing AAU Business School.

Methodologically, Louise works as an engaged scholar, working closely with private and public actors all over Denmark. This collaborative approach is central to her research strategy and dissemination efforts, aiming to create social impact.

Her research has been published in Journal of Critical Realism, Journal of Business Strategy, Journal of Industrial Ecology, Research in Transportation Business and Management, Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development, Journal of Business Models, The Learning Organization  and World Review of Intermodal Transportation.

Her previous research has involved the context of port development and collaborative business models. Her Ph.D. studies were co-funded by the Port of Aalborg, for which reason the development of the maritime and port industry remains a special area of interest for Louise.

From 2021 to 2023, Louise served as the Head of Education and later as the Head of Full-time Studies at AAU Business School. In these roles, she was also responsible for managing staff, including Ph.D. fellows, research assistants, and part-time lecturers.

Louise teaches courses on strategy, business models, philosophy of science and qualitative research methods at the bachelor, master and MBA levels.
