Research profile

Kristian Borch is an associate professor at the Department of Planning at Aalborg University. Since 2010, he has worked with research into sustainable energy systems, technology assessment and futures studies, with a particular focus on citizen involvement in connection with planning and implementation of renewable energy in the Nordic countries. He teaches energy planning and social science methods and has been a project manager on a number of interdisciplinary and EU-funded research projects. Kristian holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern Denmark, a Master of Science degree in innovation and change management from Copenhagen Business School and a Master of Science degree in conflict resolution from the University of Copenhagen. His research combines technological insight with societal and ethical perspectives, and he often works with scenario planning, stakeholder involvement and transdisciplinary methods. He has published in, among others, the Journal of Futures Studies and Energy Policy and is a member of several international research networks. Kristian is fluent in Danish and English and has a good knowledge of German.
