Personal profile

Research profile

I conduct research at the intersection of geoinformation, urban development, and digital technologies – with a particular focus on how tools such as 3D models, AI, and geovisualisation can contribute to smarter and more sustainable cities and infrastructure.

My work combines technological innovation with societal relevance. I specialise in data integration, quality assurance, and the use of emerging methods such as Citizen Science and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) to support planning and decision-making processes.

Over the years, I have been involved in several national and international research projects – including work on Digital Twins and 3D geoinformation at the Centre for 3D GeoInformation, and most recently in the award-winning project The Digital Underground. I have extensive experience as a research leader, academic assessor, and university lecturer – and I co-authored Denmark’s first (and still most widely used) textbook on GIS.

My projects aim to bridge the gap between research and practice, bringing advanced technologies into play in interdisciplinary contexts – across academia, municipalities, and the private sector.
