Research profile

Liesanth Yde Nirmalarajan is a researcher in social work, focusing on how frontline workers and families in vulnerable positions experience encounters with various types of digital technologies. Since 2016, he has been exploring how service users experience involvement in the digital practices and involvement in social work research processes.

Currently, Liesanth is conducting research at the intersection of social work and digitization. The study investigates how both service users and frontline workers experience the conditions for involvement in a multiple case study involving technologies such as 1) self-service solutions, 2) professional IT systems, and 3) algorithmic decision support. The latter case is studied in a collaborative research project in partnership with the Trygfonden Children's Research Center and VIA University College, with financial support from Trygfonden. The project is co-led by Professor Michael Rosholm, Associate Professor Line Berg, and Senior Researcher Anne Marie Villumsen.
Drawing on interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approaches, Liesanth explores social work, where decisions are affected by digital technologies.
