Personal profile
Research profile
Work at the interface between technology and medicine opens for innovative solutions in health care rehabilitation. My engagement in the fields of neuromodulation and assistive devices aims to transfer outcomes from academic research into viable solutions addressing sustainable developmental goals of the society.
My research within somatosensory neuroprostheses covers aspects of feedback control mechanisms and neuropathic pain and focuses on mechanisms of activation of the nervous tissue using electric currents and electromagnetic fields, neuroplastic changes induced by external contextual stimuli, and processing of biological signals. My research includes as well design of assistive devices and regulatory aspects.
Teaching profile
My teaching activities are based on the Problem Based Learning model at Aalborg University within the fields of biomedical engineering and medicine. Through courses and project work at bachelor, master, and postgraduate levels I aim to promote reasoning, understating, and curiosity within the learning process. I aim as well to engage as peer with the students and contribute to their self-confidence when learning to learn both as individual and group collaborative. I encourage critical thinking based on research, evidence, and creativity when mastering knowledge with focus on learning goals and specific objectives in an environment where knowledge becomes more and more readily available in various formats and context given advances in information technology.
