Engr. Majid Ali began his academic career at Sharif College of Engineering & Technology (SCET), affiliated with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, in 2013. He served as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering until 2016. In 2016, he transitioned to ICBS Lahore as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, where he worked until December 2017. During his tenure at ICBS, his roles included Project Manager for final year student projects, Program Manager/Department Coordinator, IEEE Branch Counsellor, IEEE PES Advisor, and CPD activities coordinator. Engr. Majid Ali (M’12-SM’22) is a distinguished electrical engineer with a notable academic and professional trajectory. He received his BSc (2013) and MSc (2016) in Electrical Engineering and Electric Power and Energy Engineering from the University of Management & Technology (UMT) Lahore, Pakistan, on fully funded scholarships. His academic excellence is highlighted by his Gold and Bronze Medals in Electrical Technology from the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) Lahore.

Majid Ali's contributions to the IEEE community are significant, including serving as a Core Committee member of the IEEE Industry Applications Society in 2015. His professional affiliations are extensive, including senior membership in IEEE, involvement with the IEEE Smart Grid Operations Committee USA, and memberships in IET, IAENG, and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). He was also a member of the Young Engineers Development Committee (YEDC) – PEC from 2015 to 2018.

Currently, Majid Ali is a Ph.D. Research Scholar at the Center for Research on Microgrids (CROM), Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark. His research, funded by the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) Chief Minister Merit Scholarships (CMMS), focuses on planning, energy management, and optimization for microgrid systems. He is involved in the TECHIn project, which aims to develop microgrid technologies for remote and island communities under natural disasters, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the DANIDA Fellowship Centre.

Majid Ali's research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics in electrical power and energy engineering, including power generation, transmission, and distribution; demand side management; smart grids; smart cities; renewable energy systems; power system operations; reliability and optimization; microgrid optimal sizing; power electronics; energy optimization; and energy conversion efficiency. He possesses functional knowledge of all relevant electrical legislation, codes, and standards, and is proficient in industry-specific tools and applications.
