Personal profile

Research profile

My research addresses design problems through a systems-based and evolutionary approach, that is, taking interconnections and evolution over time as cornerstones of reasoning.
Product morphology is my main research interest. I have researched generative design methods for computer implementation. Currently, my focus lies in understanding the evolution of design languages in companies and in specific product typologies.

I am part of the research group AAU Design Lab research group, led by Linda Nhu Laursen, and we are focusing on the role of design in the societal transition to a more sustainable lifestyle, design, and consumption of products.

Teaching profile

Teaching Philosophy

The next generation of industrial designers must challenge present assumptions to foster social change toward sustainable futures.

I believe this requires the following key skills: empathy, collaboration, communication and reflection. Accordingly, my main goals are to promote reflection-in-action in the design process and design courses that trigger critical reflection about specific aspects of industrial design.
