Research profile

Mette Mechlenborg has more than 20 years of experience in housing and build environment. As a researcher Mette Mechlenborg has a profound knowledge on homemaking, hominess and housing in a cross interdisciplinary research field at London University (visiting phd-student 2008), School of Design (visiting phd-student 2009-2012) and Southern University of Denmark, and Copenhagen University. She has a deep interest in theories on space, place,  placemaking, especially Lefebvre. Selected reserach topics are microliving, home in Danish high rises, sutainable everyday life practices, gender, deprived housing areas etc. Her phd. A Walk Around the Weber Grill is about the Danish suburban house in  collective memory, later published internationally. Additionally to her research career, Mette Mechlenborg has a great practical experience, first of all from her position as chief of research at BARK consultancy (2012-2016). Mette Mechlenborg has more than 90 publications, including three books and numous peer reviewed articles. She has been enrolled in several networks, for example Centre for Housing and Welfare /Center for Housing Research 2006-2012, and is a well experienced lecturer.
