Personal profile

Research profile

I am interested in how people in their material surroundings get things done, that is, intelligibility-in-practice. This is why I could be categorized as a practice studies scholar with an interdisciplinary take on matters and materialities of concern. To study phenomena in their becoming, I most often use video recordings that I analyse with ethnomethodological conversation analysis/multimodal interaction analysis/membership categorization analysis. I am interested in sociomaterialist approaches as a theoretical framework to tackle connecting everyday practices to larger issues, such as when citizens encounter various institutional practices. Communication research should help provide new models for citizen- and researcher-involved decision making in which all parties engage in mutual learning.

In 2024 I started as research leader of the Velux funded HUMpraxis project entitled How to talk about medicines?.

Teaching profile

I have taught mostly methodological courses in communication and psychology, typically in project modules (BA: communication processes, organisational communication; MA: analysis of communicative praxis, change and intervention through communication, research methods in psychology). My teaching and supervision covers a wide range of discourse analytical approaches: ethnomethodological conversation analysis, multimodal interaction analysis, membership categorization analysis, discursive psychology, nexus analysis, critical discourse analysis and narrative analysis.
