Personal profile

Research profile

As a researcher and university teacher, I am interested in how tourism links to other fields of the social through cultural innovation. Using ethnographic, digital and design methods, I explore connections between tourism, business and city development, branding and event initiatives. Often - and preferably, in research collaborations with relevant actors and users such as industry, government, citizens and students.

My main fields of research are currently tourism development in the Arctic, urban and rural Smart Tourism initiatives and mega-events. In my research, I am particularly interested in how tourism development, value creation and branding takes (and makes) place through innovative and collaborative practices and set-ups (public-private, digital, user-centered).
