Personal profile

Research profile

Group leader and associate professor in bioinformatics and biostatistics at the Center for Clinical Data Science (CLINDA). I work in close collaboration with clinicians and researchers at the Departments of Oncology and Hematology at Aalborg University Hospital on data driven personalized medicine solutions. This entails analysis of molecular and clinical registry data, using e.g. unsupervised learning for discovery of new biological subtypes in hematological cancer, supervised learning for prognostic stratification and prediction of drug response, epidemiological studies, and development of statistical methodology. I am Involved in the National Centre of Excellence for Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT) as well as the EU project ARISTOTELES, in both cases with responsibility for computer and data infrastructures.

Teaching profile

I teach and coordinate Ph.d. courses in health data science and bioinformatics, and have previously tought courses in introductory statistics and mathematics at the bachelor level.

I supervise students at all levels in the same scientific areas, and act as co-superviser for PhD students in medicine and molecular biology, contributing with technical knowledge and assistance with data analysis.
