Personal profile

Research profile

I am assistant professor in educational psychology and interested in patterns of inequality in the encounter between institutions of the welfare state (schools, daycare, PPR, psychiatri, social services) and children and families. My PhD thesis studied the encounter between primary school and children with diverse cultural and social backgrounds with a specific interest in how children understand and make sense of the differences and inequalities they experience in everyday school life. After my PhD I was part of the the research project "Patients' Views on Modern Psychiatri: A Historical Analysis" which examines patient voices in the history of psychiatry.
In my current research I study the encounter between PPR (educational psychology practice) and children and families in disadvantaged positions.
I am a qualitative researcher and I draw on methods such as participant observation and interviews.

I am currently part of two research projects:

"A practice oriented PPR" (TrygFonden grant with Thomas Szulevicz and Jon Arnfred). A case study that examines the conditions and barriers for a more practice oriented educational psychology practice in a close collaboration with educational psychologists.

"Participation and Situated Inequality in the everyday institutional life of children" (Fremfærd Børn grant with Maja Røn-Larsen, Charlotte Højholt, Gry Marie Tyberg, Rebecca Knudsen and Thomas Szulevicz). It studies the situated inequality in the everyday life of children in daycare and school.
