Personal profile
Research profile
I'm a freshwater and marine ecologist by training with 15plus years of experience in river ecology, freshwater restoration, decision support theory, and collaborative, spatial management planning. In my research I combine these topics to – often in multi-disciplinary teams and with local government representatives and communities – investigate alternative ways of solving complex environmental decision problems with a focus on the concurrent protection of freshwater biodiversity and sustainable use of ecosystem services.
My research targets fundamental and applied questions inspired by my three-year hiatus from academia at the Swiss Environmental Agency as well as by my extensive international research, teaching and leadership experience in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Spain.
