Research profile

My work is oriented in a number of different directions.

One is semiotics, particularly in its cognitive and realist variants. I have taken special interest in Charles Peirce's semiotics which I argue holds a number of actual possibilities, e.g. in diagrammatic reasoning, in multimodal propositions, and the means of claiming and representing truths.

Another is the intellectual history of the Enlightenment, particularly the history of Free Speech, e.g. in the Danish Press Freedom period 1770-73.

A further interest is the philosophy of science in general, as well as pertaining to the phil of sci of the humanities in particular.

Philosophical Anthropology - the study of different definitions and understandings of human beings, across academic disciplines.

My work hopes to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals such as 4) Quality Education; 5) Gender Equality; 10) Reduced Inequality; 16) Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
