Research profile

Twenty years' experience with social science relating to various aspects of the EU Common Fisheries Policy and national fisheries management systems, as well as broader issues of marine governance and fish as a food source. Member of the Fisheries Commission 2022-23, which was set up by the Danish Parliament to provide advice on the future of Danish fisheries.

Current areas of research and interest:

• The sustainable and climate-friendly fisheries of the future, incl. certification
• Danish marine governance and planning, particularly the balance between on one side fisheries activities and on the other side nature and biodiversity
• Democratic participation in marine issues
• Sustainable coastal communities, incl. issues around fisheries and ITQs 
• Fish as food

Teaching profile

Teaches and supervises primarily in the Environmental Management & Sustainability Science (EMSS) programme within subjects related to natural resource management and nature conservation - primarily in the context of the coast and/or sea.
