A Flexible Automatic Robot Planning and Control System

    Project Details

    Description

The objective of this ongoing project is to develop and improve a flexible automatic robot planning and control system. The system serves two main objectives: Test bench for industrial applications and platform for making research in planning and control of robots. The system has been further improved during the last year. First of all, a new robot cell has been installed. The new robot is an IRB140 robot from ABB. The robot is equipped with: arc-sensors, start point sensors, and software for exchange of data to and from the robot controller. Secondly, two licenses of em-Workplace (robot simulation system from Tecnomatix) under Windows have been implemented. This includes the development of accurate models of our robot cells. Finally, a laser scanner (M-Spot 90) from ServoRobot in Canada was delivered January 2004. In collaboration with IWA A/S this scanner was integrated into the present control system. The acquisition of equipment is financed by support from: Det Obelske Familiefond, Thomas B. Thriges Fond, and the Faculty of Engineering and Science and Aalborg University.
