Description

The purpose of this research project ABS (Architecture, Benchmarking and Space) is to give a specific suggestion as to how the use of completed buildings (- sports-, recreational- and culture buildings) can be evaluated, and which parameters of quality must figure in the development of a principal method, which will later be applicable for various types of buildings. A ph.d. student is connected to the research project. Today there is an increasing need for knowledge concerning the use of buildings, who uses them and why are they used in the way they are. This is especially the case for the development of new types of buildings with new functions, where therefore there is very little or no existing knowledge at hand in the development phase among the involved partners. But generally it is also the case, because it gives the implicated actors an opportunity to judge whether they have gotten "their moneys worth" - a situation that is often not present today. Based on this it can be proven that a development of general research based methods of evaluation and parameters of quality for assessment of activities and use of sports-, recreational and cultural buildings is needed. The research project is based on this situation and seeks to develop methods and models, based on state-of-the-art technology, which can be used for future building works and development of existing buildings.
