Project Details

Description

This project aims at exploring how Master students at Aalborg University (AAU), manage/study(?) with the disruption COVID-19 causes to their usual learning environment. The fundamental learning strategy at AAU is Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is praised internationally for enhancing critical skills and employability-readiness, mainly because of the focus on cooperating with the business community on the solution of professional issues. However, the current COVID-19 situation has thrown AAU into an extreme digitalization experiment almost overnight and demanded organizational changes in administering and coordinating the PBL teaching, supervision as well as examinations. This also disrupts some of the classical PBL approaches. The COVID-19 makes it an unique opportunity for collecting empirical material to identify and map the constrains and potentials for students’ group work and learning processes during their 8th semester project process and final oral exam which all now happen through digital platforms from April to June, 2020. This project will be integrated into the on-going research project Creative Learning Lab that analyzes students’ learning process through different teaching/learning initiatives with PBL as core of the process.
