Accurate robotic 3D knee joint laxity - novel technology to assess knee injuries and plan surgeries

Project Details

Description

Knee joint stability is important for a healthy knee, however, when patients
undergo surgeries like joint replacements and ligament reconstruction, instability
can occur post-operatively. Joint instability is a major concern for the surgeon, but
there is no tool on the market that can accurately assess joint stability. Therefore,
we have invented a new technology to measure joint stability. The technology and
the associated business case we will develop further in this project and we estimate
a yearly market of $203 mill. within ligament reconstructions alone.

Key findings

Knee instability, measurement technology, ligament reconstruction, total knee replacement, pre-operative planning.
