Description
Overall objective: Analyze the potential for, drivers of, and obstacles to restructuring Bangladesh’s apparel export industry based on a circular economy system.
Objective 1: Map the circularity shift in the global fashion industry and assess the opportunities for and challenges to increased value capture by supplier firms.
Objective 2: Produce a baseline study of resource use and waste in Bangladesh’s textile and apparel firms, and industry and national infrastructure and business systems related to resource use and waste management.
Objective 3: Identify the firm-level capabilities and costs, and the industry-wide system designs required for a circular economy system in textile and apparel production.
Objective 4: Evaluate the resources, capabilities and corporate strategy of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel firms in relation to the adoption of circular economy practices.
Objective 5: Contribute to formulating policy initiatives that incentivize firms to invest in circular economy, including provision of the public institutions, regulations and investments.
Layman's description
ces; both pre & post-consumption wastage, by linking with global circular value chain and gain competitive advantage in production. This will make two-fold impact: one, reduce CO2 emission, chemical, water and energy consumption due to circularity and new technology adoption, and two, create complementary industries, employment, and higher added value to production and export, leading to sustainable development not only in apparel industry but also in entire economy due to it's over-reliance to apparel sector.
