Project Details

Description

The objective of the project is to investigate and compare with possible wind generator configurations including non-standard generator systems. The purpose is to provide the numerical evaluation of different wind generator systems. The main contents of the project will comprise two parts, one will be an overview of existing wind generator topologies including novel systems, and the other will be the presentation of electromagnetic design optimizations and comparisons of different wind generator systems. The first part will give comments on the different generator concepts for wind power conversion applications and present a survey of quantitative comparisons of different generator topologies based on the technical data and market aspects, as well as the future developing trends of wind generators. The second part will present the numerical evaluation of different wind generator systems, which includes the detailed modeling of annual energy yield, generator system losses, electromagnetic design and optimization for different wind generator systems. Special attention is given to the possible design regimes to have more cost-effective performances of different wind generators. The project plays an important role in the optimal design and matching at a specific wind climates for different wind generators.
