Description

Decentralized Patient Centered Clinical Trials (PACT) is a national grant solutions project. In a public-private collaboration with Trial Nation, the five regions in Denmark and seven private companies, the Department of Planning, Aalborg University will try to reduce barriers to participate in clinical trials in Denmark for patients, healthcare professionals and companies by moving clinical trials out from the major university hospitals and make it easier for citizens to sign up for clinical trials and participate from their own home.
This decentralized participation in clinical trials is made possible by, firstly, establishing an IT platform that provides an updated national overview of initiated trials for both patients and healthcare professionals. Secondly, a digital patient recruitment platform is developed and implemented where citizens can sign up for clinical trials. Finally, the decentralized clinical trials are launched and the data flow from citizens to the project initiatives is monitored and evaluated.
The Department of Planning will contribute to ensuring user involvement in the implementation process for the three initiatives, by gathering experience about structural, technical, and communicative aspects and differences from private and public actors.
