Project Details

Description

The goal of this project is to boost the societal and commercial potential of our artificial intelligence (AI) based surgical site infection (SSI) detection technology for treatment of orthopaedic patients. The technology is an AI software model trained with the domain knowledge from orthopaedic surgeons and a huge number of orthopaedic surgical site images. The final product enabled by this technology could be an intelligent mobile phone App to empower orthopaedic patients to monitor their surgical sites at home, which has the potential to significantly reduce the cost related to SSI.

Key findings

Automated real-time detection of surgical sites.
Potential correlation between surgical site infection and temperature patterns of the surgical sites.
