En new type of citizen is facing the light of the day - representing a political identity characterised as "The consumeristic citizen".
This citizen unfolds her societal and political engagement in settings that are increasingly structured by market mechanisms. Individual choice in welfare services is the key to strategies of action. Individual calculations based on experience and needs are central elements in the identity work of this figure. It is a citizen who combines individuality and community in a new and unique way.
