REGPOT call submitted to the FP7-Capacities-Research Potential Program (call FP7-REGPOT-2012-2013-1).
EUROGATE encompasses 3 main components:
1. substantial knowledge exchange with a partner network involving the following institutions (including visits, faculty exchange, workshops, summer academy and artist in residency): SFI - Smart Future Initiative (Frankfurt, Germany), UCLan - University of Central Lancashire (Preston, UK), US - University of Salford (Manchester, UK), PM - Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy), AU - Aalborg University (Esbjerg, Denmark), TU/e - Eindhoven University of Technology (Eindhoven, the Netherlands), UG - University of Glasgow (Glasgow, United Kingdom)
2. a set of infrastructure capacities to activate the Madeira Living Lab for Interactive Technologies involving around 400K in equipment for:
i) Biometrics and physiological assessment capacity, ii) Non-invasive behavioural assessment capacity, iii) Interactive experience exploration capacity, iv) Digital performance exploration capacity
3. hiring of invited chairs, experience faculty and technical people
3 invited chairs in Computational Design (Mark Gross), Visualization (Bob Spence) and Intelligent User Interfaces (Charles Rich)
6 experienced faculty in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Digital Art, Design Research, Design Thinking and Biometrics and Physiological Assessment
2 engineers/technicians in integration of software systems, administration of computational infrastructure and
Overall the proposal involves funding of 2.6MEuros for the period of 3 years starting by the end of 2012
