Abstract:
The power system is experiencing an ever-increasing integration of photovoltaic power plants, which leads to many challenges (e.g. frequency, voltage, and system inertia) to the power grid. Hence, flexible control strategies are a must in order to sustain the power quality and reliability of the grid, as well as improve the penetration of solar energy. As a consequence, hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) are adopted to enhance the flexibility and stability of the entire system due to their decreasing prices and scalability to certain projects. This project focuses on flexible power control of this PV-HESS system to provide a more reliable and functional solution and make a grid-friendly power system.
