Project Details

Description

The project focusses on analysing sustainability and circular economy in relation to waste and resource management in construction. It will address fundamental questions pertaining to ‘circular construction’ and how the construction sector can support action to rethink and transform established norms and methods. The research is divided in three work packages (WP). In WP1, focus is on the circular political agenda across ministries and how policy reports frame the industry in need to rethink established norms and routines. The work will include an analysis of the regulatory system, and a study of the established norm structure in construction. In WP2, we will continue the focus on Circular economy and how it forms the industry. The analysis will be base around a case study to understand the interaction between the client and the constructor and the barriers that restrain the circularity in practice. The analysis will be based on a case study, and through observations and interviews, aim at developing an understanding of how the practice on constructions sites adapts to change in legislations and regulations. In WP3, we will reflect on the prior results, and develop recommendations for the contractor to improve sustainability actions, waste and resource management. The aim is to facilitate the contractor’s adaptation to changes, and through knowledge and management create a structure that can help increase material reusability and decrease waste production.
