Project Details
Description
Heritable structures in plants, animals and humans lend themselves naturally to description by graphical models which represent the transmission of genetic material from parents to offspring, as this transmission happens via simple and partially known random laws. This can be exploited to develop efficient algorithms for calculation of relevant probabilities, for example in connection with linkage analysis and genetic mapping, identification of pedigrees, forensic genetics, and genetic counseling. Cooperation with R.G. Cowell, City University, UK, A.P. Dawid, University College London, UK, Julia Mortera, Paola Vicard, Università Roma Tre, Italy, Petter Mostad, Chalmers Tekniska Högskola, Sweden, Nuala Sheehan, University of Leicester, UK and Niels Morling, Copenhagen University.
