Project Details
Description
The task was to build and test a 5 kW isolated DC-DC converter using new wide bandgap material switches (SiC jFETs). I gained experience in modeling of the phase-shifted full bridge converter with current doubler and synchronous rectification (Plecs), loss estimations in switching devices and magnetic components, design and manufacturing of the magnetics with high efficiency (inductors and transformer), hardware implementation and laboratory test validation. The control was implemented with a Texas Instruments USB control stick using Piccolo F28027 fixed point digital signal controller (DSC).
