Description

An information transport platform must provide high-speed, large volume, good quality, global coverage and flexibility to roam. To ensure this effective global coverage, we try to derive the benefits of mobile ad-hoc networks research and couple it with the reconfiguration technology. Towards this end a flat type IP architecture is proposed that enables a rapid deployment of micro-and pico type of base stations and incorporates the open radio access network (RAN) within the all-IP paradigm. Within that architecture, wireless nodes or access points have to be interconnected using a long-haul backbone network. The proposed architecture exploits the idea of coupled physical layer adaptation and scheduling leading to intelligent algorithm design for such future wireless networks. (A. Mihovska, S.
