Lipase research

Project Details

Description

Triglyceride Lipases are studied with the target of unravelling their structure function relationship. We employ a wide range of biophysical methods as well as genetic engineering methods in this quest. Typically we are targeting the protein surface for single site mutations, aiming at altering the pH optimum. We have successfully achieved this with several mutations. We are also performing directed molecular evolution with the aim of changing specificity or stability of the enzyme. (Eva I. Petersen, Steffen B. Petersen; M. Rafaat El-Gewely, University of Tromsø)
