The purpose of Light and Energy was to develop a new innovation model in construction based on the architect as lead user and the principles of open innovation. The innovation model included a circular, yet stepwise approach to processes of evaluation and planning, idea generation, prototyping and testing, and business planning and implementation. The model was developed and tested on the development of various examples of light and energy saving technologies for windows, façades etc.
