Description
Title of project: Micro-PBL in Mathematics using Virtual Reality (myPBL-VRMath)
Research question: To what extent is the use of virtual reality in a micro-PBL setting useful to motivate university engineering students and enhance their understanding of key mathematical concepts in linear algebra? In this project, we begin with the vector cross product.
Explanation of acronym: “my” is the Danish way of writing the Greek letter μ using Latin letters (in English is it “mu”). My/μ is a frequently used in mathematics and means micro. In this project, we use its double meaning as the mathematical term “micro” and as “my”, which in English is the first person singular possessive adjective (“min”, in Danish). VR also sounds like “we are”, hence a way of embracing mathematics including others. Hence, both my and VR is intended to signal that PBL and Mathematics are pleasant and inclusive.
Funding: IAS PBL (Institute for Advanced Study in PBL) Seed Money: 60,000 DKK for 2024.
