Project Details

Description

The wind resource in China is rich, with more and more installed wind power capacity in the power system and multiple of large-scale onshore and offshore wind farm’s integration, because of the intermittence and variance of wind power, its influence on the power system operation is becoming significantly and measures for its integration are becoming more restricted. Through the integration based on VSC-HVDC, the wind farm integration performance and integration power quality can be enhanced. Through the coordinated control strategy between the VSC-HVDC based transmission system and wind farms, it can realize the system low voltage ride-through ability, and can provide technical support for system protection scheme design and project development. VSC-HVDC based integration not only can enhance the damping performance of the system but also can suppress the voltage flicker with the wind farm integration into grid and then realize the black start, islanded operation and soft-restart of wind turbines. Variable speed wind turbine system is widely used in the offshore wind power. The advanced control and protection strategies based on RT-Lab and Dspace will enhance the characteristics of Variable Speed Wind Turbine System. Then enhance the characteristics of power system with large scale wind farm integrated into.
The outcome of this project will give support to formulate SGCC Enterprise standard <Technical rule for connecting offshore wind farm to power system >.
