Project Details

Description

In collaboration with Dr. Poul Henning Jensen, Aarhus University, we are studying the biophysical properties of proteins involved in Parkinson?s Disease. The N-terminal segment of parkin behaves in many ways like its structural homologue ubiquitin, while p25 appears to be partially unfolded under physiological conditions; it is protease-sensitive but undergoes cooperative unfolding. The effects of these proteins on fibrillation of a-synuclein, the causative agent of Parkinson?s Disease, are being investigated using the techniques developed for glucagons. (Jesper S.
