Description

This project aimed to address challenges related to onboarding XR technologies in organizations seeking to enhance their digital transformation efforts. By combining research, development, and collaboration with industry partners, the project explored state-of-the-art solutions and best practices for onboarding XR technologies at both the operational interface and strategic organizational levels.

The project was structured into two key work packages:

Exploration of XR Onboarding Challenges and Opportunities
The first work package focused on mapping and testing current XR onboarding approaches through feasibility studies. A primary case involved Telehealth training using VR and generative AI (GAI) within a non-XR-mature organization. This phase also included the development of guidelines and UI patterns to support consistent and effective XR onboarding. Testing was conducted across diverse user groups to ensure inclusivity and adaptability. The findings provided proof-of-concepts and empirical insights that laid the foundation for broader industry engagement.

Networking and Future Collaboration Initiatives
The second work package emphasized the identification of barriers and opportunities for implementing XR technologies in non-XR organizations. It produced actionable guidelines and heuristics to assist organizations in aligning XR adoption with their strategic goals while reducing the technical literacy required for successful integration. Collaborative frameworks were also developed to foster ongoing partnerships between researchers, XR industry players, and non-XR organizations.

As a result of the project’s activities, a partnership has been established with Dania Academy of Higher Education. This collaboration ensures the continuation of the project’s findings through integration into educational programs, industry training, and further research initiatives.

The project’s outcomes contribute to the strategic advancement of XR onboarding by providing valuable knowledge, practical tools, and strengthened connections between academia, industry, and non-XR organizations, facilitating broader adoption and innovation within the XR domain.
