Permanent and determinant processes

Project Details

Description

We have introduced a new flexible class of point processes where many results are explicitly known. These processes are called permanent processes since densities and moment expressions are given by weighted permanents of certain matrices. A dual class of point processes, where various results are expressed in terms of weighted determinants, have also been introduced; such processes are called determinant processes. A permanent process is a model for clustering/aggregation while a determinant process is a model for regularity/repulsion. Statistical aspects and simulation procedures for the two model classes are currently investigated.
