Large-scale Photovoltaic (PV) Power Systems (PVPS) have been increasingly deployed in utility grids, ranging from MW PV power stations to GW PV power plants. The electromagnetic coupling and control interactions among the hundreds of PV inverters and, between the PVPS and power grids, are challenging the stability and power quality of electrical systems. A number of research efforts have recently been made to stabilize the integration of large-scale PVPS into power grids. However, the dynamic effects of the outer dc-link voltage and power control loops are not well explained. This project aims to mitigate the adverse effects of the power and synchronization control dynamics of PVPS and their interactions with reactive power compensators under different grid conditions.
