Project Details

Description

This project aims to validate and test recycled High-Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) and Polyamide 6.6 (PA66) materials, develop processes to upgrade them to characteristics of even quality materials and produce documentation necessary to certify them in international certification-institutions. The project will enable recycling of the abovementioned materials in industrial production and create knowledge that will have impact outside the project in terms of development of recycling procedures of different kind of industrial plastic. This project can be characterized as an important milestone on the way to a recycling plastic economy, not least considering the amount of plastics the participants in this
project consume annually. The project aims at enabling recycling plastics used for industrially relevant technical applications. Technical applications like pipes accounts for a very high volume of plastics on the one hand and applications like pumps accounts for a very high value as advanced polymers are used. Enabling
recycling of technical plastics is an important and business critical potential for both producers of products as for the recycling companies.

Layman's description

The aim of this project is to pave the way for recycling of plastic used in industrial production by enabling 15.000 tons industrial plastic to be recycled. Industrial plastic cannot be recycled today because recycled plastic has not been tested and certified. Thus, the project is a highly ambitious endeavor to utilize the Danish
lead on material science and technology to sustaining the best-in-class position of companies such

Key findings

The project will increase the amount of Industrial recycled plastic in DK by 30%.
