Project Details

Description

The research project is a study of approx. 7 Danish port cities. It is investigated how these port cities function as cities for settlement and how they are affected by having an active commercial port. In addition, it is investigated whether there are some pervasive characteristics and special local place based qualities for the individual port cities, in order to explore the potential for future port and urban development. To study the individual port cities, a general method is developed to make the results comparable and practical for the participating ports and cities. General questions are how the cities live with their ports and how the ports live with their cities? Both can be good and bad, and by uncovering problems, qualities and potentials, the goal is to be able to derive some concrete solutions and recommendations for the benefit of both city and port.
