The overall purpose is to contribute to the evolution of an interdisciplinary theory of the interplay between society and natural life support systems focussing on economics, political science, and sociology aiming at developing and strengthening the basis for a theoretical conception that is able to explain and understand interplay and transformation in the first world during the last 200 years; a span of years were man has witnessed an exponential increasing velocity of change. In relation to the theoretical efforts of the research group it is the ambition to generate explanations that can be used as a basis for both analysis ex post and potentials for actions ex ante. Thus, the project is intensifying the efforts concerning basic theoretical foundation and simultaneously maintains significant relations to social practise.
