Satellit Formation Flying based on a Distributed Hybrid Control Framework

Project Details

Description

Many future satellite missions will demand a high accuracy from the scientific sensors to be able to observe f.x. extra solar planets and the event horizon of black holes. As satellite size is limited by the launch vehicles it is necessary to find other methods of improving measurement sensitivity. One promising method is satellite formations where multiple satellites cooperate to achieve better sensing. One of the basic problems in regards to satellite formations is controlling the relative position of the satellittes with sub mm accuracy. This PhD project investigates such control algorithms based on hyrbid systems in order to accommodate fault handling.
