Description
The Network on “Teaching problem based learning in virtual environments” – ScandLE, funded by Nordforsk, is scheduled to run from November 2010 to October 2012. The network will focus on teachers work conditions and self-management in relation to two promising directions in the teaching of the future, namely self-regulated learning as in Problem Based Learning (PBL), and Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs). Both PBL and VLEs are instruments, which are most likely to have significant influence on the professional role of the teacher in the classrooms of the 21st century and in informal learning and teaching contexts empowered by social computing. Hence the network has a dual focus: empowerment of teachers and the integration of PBL practices in VLEs. The research will focus on the critical issues in, aspects of and problems with teaching in these formal and informal technology enhanced learning settings.
