Studies in the Henry of Livonia's Chronicle/ Heinrici Chronicon Livoniae (ca. 1227)

    Project Details

    Description

This is an on-going project involving a number of different studies into the Chronicle of Henry of Livonia. The project has resulted in articles dealing with both the process of christianisation in general as well as offering specific detailed analysis of persons involved. For the time being (2008-09) I work on subprojects to this, investigating the notions of 'sacality in landscape' in Henry's Chronicle; his conceptions of woods and wilderness in the Baltic, and, finally, his attitudes towards other 'agents of christianisation' competing in the region for the souls of the pagans.
