Project Details

Description

This is a theoretical development project which has had two dimensions: One is to critically research into the truisms of the territorialised innovation theories, which are revealed as very questionable. The second is to develop alternative understandings of the preconditions for learning, innovation  and local development. The alternative view encompasses a more thorough understanding and recognition of the firm level relational and other capabilities, and of the proximity mechanisms which can be established among partner at different scales in different places, based on the firm level capabilities. Innovative networks are not typically local, but global, and individual firms are able to manage complex knowledge networks.

The project has so far resulted in a series of conference papers and five international articles.
